The position:

The position as assistant professor or associate professor on the Bachelor of Engineering in Biotechnology will consist of several elements. The primary task will be teaching, but there will also be tasks in the form of supervision, exams, ect. In collaboration with the rest of our passionate teaching team, your tasks will, depending on your skill area and interest, consist of:

  • Training in some of the following areas, among others
    • Chemical unit operations
    • Practical control and instrumentation
    • Data processing
    • Technical chemistry
    • Mathematical modeling
    • Fermentation
    • Programming (Python)

Other tasks

      • Research and development. Here you will work with colleagues to initiate relevant research and development projects.
      • Continuing education. You will be involved in identifying needs and developing relevant continuing education within your field.
      • You must be ready to collaborate with relevant international knowledge partners.
      • Organize events with local high schools to create a bridge between their students and our education.

We make a point of ensuring that our educations are practice-oriented, which is why teaching takes place in close collaboration with relevant companies and municipalities. A good professional network will therefore be an advantage.

In addition, we expect you to have a relevant higher education, e.g. engineering, chemistry or similar.

Your colleagues:

The engineering education is organizationally located in Kalundborg in the Centre for Engineering and Science (CES), which was established in 2017. We are therefore still in the process of adapting the program, creating our culture and traditions among both employees and students.

You will be part of a center with a head of center, four heads of education, and so far 35 employees. You will be part of the biotech team that values team spirit and professionalism. The team consists of 12 assistant and associate professors, a laboratory technician and a laboratory trainee.

We are passionate about education and the engineering profession and solve our tasks and challenges together.

At Absalon, the assistant professorship in engineering programs is a 3-year educational position. We support this through Absalon’s associate professor qualification program, which all newly hired assistant professors participate in, and all are assigned a supervisor.
